Where is volkihar keep

As well as the Chalice, there are two bottles of skooma and an iron dagger on a table. Lab : Feran Sadri and Ronthil can both be usually found here working on the first floor, and Garan Marethi can be found on the second.

Lord Harkon frequents the first floor as well. On the first floor, an alchemy lab can be found, as well as two glass cases containing alchemy ingredients—one containing poisons and a Frenzy poison recipe—and a shelf containing other various ingredients.

Ronthil can sometimes be found sleeping on the floor behind one of the turned bookcases. On the second floor is an arcane enchanter and two locked glass cases—one containing a black soul gem , and the other with one of each soul gem except grand and an Elven Dagger of Binding. On the balcony overlooking the dining hall, another copy of The Aetherium Wars can be found, as well as a set of Vampire Armor and boots on a shelf just behind the balcony.

There is also a coffin near here that Garan Marethi frequently uses. Coffin Room : Leading from the first to the second floor of the lab is a small room containing eight coffins, two weapon racks at one end, and some clothing at the other. On the side opposite the weapon racks are four Vampire Armors two gray, one light gray, one red , two pairs of Vampire Boots , and a locked glass case with two regular unenchanted amulets and a Bone Hawk amulet.

This location is where most of the less important vampires of the keep sleep, as well as those who work in the alchemy section of the lab. Lord Harkon's Quarters : Frequented by Lord Harkon, the torture room contains a bloody rack, a throne and chair facing the fire, a large empty cage near the chairs, and a coffin in the back of the room.

There is a werewolf pelt in the case to the immediate right of the door, and various poisons, embalming tools, and a woodcutter's axe are on the table near the rack. On a shelf above the display and bookcases are two samples each of deathbell and nightshade. Farther up, there are four locked glass cases on the left wall containing, from left to right: a Bone Hawk amulet, Bone Hawk ring , and a diamond in the first, an enchanted necklace in the second, a leveled scroll in the third, and four human hearts in the last.

There is a common soul gem, a Potion of Blood, a scroll, and another case with a Dragon Priest dagger in it across from the first four cases. Going through the door in the rear leads to Lord Harkon's personal coffin room, containing a coffin, a leveled weapon on the rack to the left of the coffin, and a plate to the right of the coffin with gold and gems inside.

Up the stairs farther north, there's a chest under the table which is safe for storage. Strangely, there is Mythic Dawn tapestry hanging above the torture rack. Serana's Room : This room was originally owned by Serana , and is derelict until the completion of The Bloodstone Chalice.

No one seems to enter it at any point, including Serana herself, possibly because her bed is erroneously marked as belonging to Valerica. I seem to recall the company specifically referring to the castles as acquirable player dwellings but the game itself is pretty vague about it and there are unsafe containers etc. That said, the castles particularly the vamp one are more like citadels in Skyrim's structure scale, the vamp castle is pretty much a town with a notable population so you're sharing that space with a lot of other people But it severely limits customization potential if every time you try to decorate the main hall npcs keep nicking your stuff.

That's another big reason why I couldn't consider it my home, no purchasable upgrades either. Qua happened to that? Cuz I beat the whole quest libe and I can't do anything of the sort As it is established during the Companions questline, as well as for the majority of The Elder Scrolls series, silver is particularly effective when dealing with the undead.

So naturally, one would assume that the inhabitants of Castle Volkihar would think to rid their home of every trace of silver within their fortress. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately for the human cattle, the cattle room is littered with various silver platters and pots.

The cattle don't seem to want to fight back, but if they ever did, they would have all the weapons they needed at their disposal to take care of their undead imprisoners. Harkon's room, while not the biggest in the castle, is certainly one of the most interesting.

At the center of the main landing is a large table, splashed with blood, and displaying several nasty looking sharp implements that could only be used for torture. Aside from these sharp objects designed for poking and prodding victims in all the right places, he also has numerous poisons at his disposal, such as Damage Health and Slow Poison which can only be used for making his interrogations that much more painful for whoever is unfortunate enough to share his living space.

Another interesting aspect of Harkon's room is the upper level, which is something of a dressing room for the elderly Vampire Lord. In a display case flanked by wardrobes is a lone Dragon Priest Dagger, a strange weapon for a Vampire Lord to have.

Although it is implied that both Harkon and Serana are much older than they appear, the fact that Harkon has a Dragon Priest Dagger at his disposal could indicate that he was alive during the last reign of Aldiun and the dragons in the Merethic Era, which predates the events of Skyrim by several thousand years.

Aside from his possession of the Dragon Priest Dagger, there is another interesting aspect of Harkon's room that may connect him not only to the age of dragons, but to the Dragon Priests themselves. On the wall, just before the landing of the second level, there is a mural embedded into the brickwork that is very clearly identical to those seen inside Draugr ruins.

Not only does this raise several questions about Harkon's history, but also the origins of Castle Volkihar themselves. Since vampires often take over ruins in the general overworld of Skyrim, it is possible that this castle was once used by priests before the downfall of Alduin.

As an ancient vampire and child of Molag Bal, it's natural for Harkon to have some kind of hatred for werewolves.
