Keep the Gargoyles at bay and run up the stairs inside of the tower to find an elevator. Take it up and follow the stairs until you reach a giant altar. Take the adjacent set of stairs down and carefully roll onto the platform down below. Yurt will be locked in a cage on the platform up ahead, waiting to be released. Quickly backstab him and keep on the offensive until he dies.
If Yurt ends up falling off the platform, simply reload the game and his drops will be right by his cage. Be careful not to accidentally fall off the side; it's easier to take the light jump to the left of the walkway rather than leaping straight ahead, as you are more prone to miss the landing and die a painful death.
It's best to go equipped with either a shard of archstone or the miracle called Evacuate, otherwise, you have no other way of leaving the platform other than freeing Yurt and utilizing his cage as an elevator to continue onward deeper down into the hopeless Tower of Latria.
The question, then, is should you free him or should you kill him? Honestly, this is one of those many things only pro players know. Yurt, as mentioned previously, is a dangerous mercenary, whose aptly-named title of Silent Chief references his rank among assassins and his ability to remain both unseen and unheard in his murderous deeds. Thus, when standing before his locked cage and hearing his sweet words of potential companionship, many new players fall into the trap of believing him.
Upon first meeting Yurt, he tells the player, "Are you here to fight the Demons? If so, then help me escape this place. I am on your side. I have come to face the Demons. It's best to just free him from his cage and kill him where he stands.
This is a bit tricky as it requires you to backtrack up to the tower above him. Once you get back up however Yurt does not have enough range to shoot back, and if you're a good enough shot you can take him down in a hundred arrows or a few dozen spells.
Alternatively, let him out of his cage and then cast Evacuate. On return to the Nexus, he will not be there. Return to his area and he will still be walking around. Without dropping down to his level, shoot him with a Bow. He will charge at you, and fall off the edge. After releasing Yurt one needs only to cast the spell and step into the the cage he once occupied to find a safe place to wait for the spell's effect to kill him.
A short jaunt back up the elevator after Yurt has died will allow you to pick up your Gloom Armor. Soulsucker will also kill Yurt in one hit. Demon's Souls English Wiki. Create account or Sign in.
