Justin Hayward has a voice like velvet. No one else sounds like him. And how about Benjamin Orr from the Cars? I realize these lists are subjective, but some of these named are legendary tone deaf vocalists that can scream but not sing. Burton Cummings really Good singer today..

Problem with this list is the author is considering the fame of the artist, including instrumental ability. For instance, Jimi Hendrix could sing, but is on this list because of his guitar god status. The list should be about vocal ability and importance to rock history from that standpoint. One of the great rock voices of all time. Probably top Dio is not on the top 3?
Where was Peter Cetera of Chicago? And yet they include the flat and always somewhat off key Anthony Kiedis. A vocal range bigger than almost all the members of the list, and sweet and clean voice in lower and high notes.
Mike Patton Faith no More is your one big miss. You only have to listen to Epic, Easy back to back and he has to be in. A more versatile adaptable voice does not exist. The fact that Brad Delp is not on this list and not in the top 5 of this list invalidates it completely. I guess you need to see these singers live to fully judge them. This is not about style of music but about the voice. Of those that I have seen live Noddy Holder has the ultimate rock n roll voice without a doubt.
Hardly needs a mike tbh. Also Steve Marriot must be in the top 5 of Rock and Roll voices. Like many other commenters, I wish to point out a significant omission. I consider Gary Brooker of Procol Harum to be one the ten best rock singers of all time.
But Procol Harmum released eleven great albums between and He can shout, he can whisper and he can transform his voice so much that you would swear it was a different singer.
Well, a lot of great names on the list, but I think some of them are here because of their overall opus, not vocal. Somebody needs to listen to a bunch more albums. Not even going to look at this point but they probably left James Hetfield off the list too. If you included Ozzy and Dickinson… you have to consider Heavy Metal singers as well.
Elvis Presley is 8? The list is just a joke. He is what everyone should realize about this list. For the 7 guys in front of him…. Elvis could sing ANY of their songs and make the songs sound great….. Now tell me if Freddie Mercury could sing a blues song or a country song…or Ozzy Osbourne. Lennon and McCartney above Elvis as vocalists? What a joke…. I agree with many that are being mentioned as omitted, primarily Layne Staley, but also Myles Kennedy!

There were many WTF moments indeed when going through the list. Roger Waters is a great songwriter but a decidedly mediocre rock singer. Joe Elliot over Bruce Dickinson is ludicrous. Lou Reed just barely even sang — he had an extremely limited range, in every meaning of the word.
Little Richard at only The exclusion of Lou Gramm, lead singer for Foreigner, is criminal. Its crazy how high he can sing. Everyone has their personal faves, but not having Roy Or is on in the top ten is a joke.

Klaus Meine of Scorpions should be top 5. Ever listen to still loving you? He is in his 70s and can still sing every song in their catalog perfectly.
