He brings up memories they had and wondered if she missed them all when she went away. He asked if she missed love, pride or deep fried chicken among other things. It feels like the song is more about love than pain. I am sure it was no accident this song came to him in a dream. Our loved ones who have passed are always sending signs to us, we just have to pay attention. All you have to do is pay attention. Beautiful song. This piece explains for me why I wept whenever I I heard it.
I no longer weep for I have finally come to accept her passing. Thank you for this. Now that I have read this site, I also understand why this song brings me to tears every time I hear it. Like Monahan, I like to believe he is exploring his new world, and keeping me close to him. There is a great groove in there. What do you remember about balancing those elements in the recording?
AS: How did you end up with Paul Buckmaster arranging the strings? But could you foresee just how big it was going to be, even with all that? And it kind of scared me because it was so long of a song. But it worked out. And not just for me, but my band and my crew and the people that are close.
We survive to put our kids through school and buy cars and everything because music has been good to us. What a great feeling to be able to respect the road that got you there and the songs that did it.

It truly is a beautiful song with an even nicer meaning. Great reflection! I never paid much attention to the lyrics—it was always just a song I heard now and then on the radio—and so I never realized the lyrics were so ambiguous. It still manages to be a powerful, moving song. The way I see it, it almost sounds like a love song at parts, but there are definitely ideas of loss present throughout.
Apart from that, very good reflection! Your email address will not be published. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. But hearing his explanation made the song make a lot of sense to me. Pretty cool. Monahan wrote the song in less than an hour. The song came to him in a dream, and after he woke up, the song was in his head.
When he woke up, he took about thirty minutes to write it down and sing the words into a Dictaphone. The next night before bed he finished it up, and the song that was a conversation with his late mom was complete.
And tell me, did Venus blow your mind? Was it everything you wanted to find? And did you miss me While you were looking for yourself out there? Monahan thanked his mom when he accepted the award.
