Where is daron malakian now

But, after I had a visit with him, I was just so emotional. Seeing him that way made me really emotional. And I came home and I wrote that song and those lyrics just kind of came out of me.

So I just came home and I wrote that song. It was kind of inspired by my visit with my uncle. The song speaks to them and they can relate to that. Years ago, it was a song that we covered onstage when John [Dolmayan] was actually still in [Scars on Broadway].

And, when I went into record Dictator , I was like, that cover sounded really good and strong. So, I ended up recording it myself when I was recording the album. I just did it this past fall in Mexico City, where System played the first night and Scars played the next day. Aside from that, I enjoy them both the same way.

There will definitely be a new Scars album sooner than it took between the first one and Dictator. I kind of have to get it out there and record it and listen to them and see what all works together. We just did a really cool run for like a week or so in the West Coast. We got a really great reaction from fans. One thing fans have to realize is going on the road costs a lot of money.

Well, I appreciate Shavo saying that. The guy that makes them actually used to mod my Marshalls… so when I heard his, I felt they sounded like my modded Marshalls. Which explains why I started using those. I pretty much plug my guitar straight into the amp. When I solo, I like my parts to sing a melody rather than play a bunch of notes really fast over and over again.

A lot of the things I write come from all the things I like meshed in with each other. Practice sounds like homework to me. I play when I want to play and when I want to play… I play for hours!

You hear a lot of muscle memory and not enough feel. I never considered it practicing because I was just playing what I wanted to play. That helps you build skill and technique. It just comes along with playing as much as I have over the years.

Those are things I plan before I bring songs to the band. Well, you and Serj have very different voices, which is perhaps why they blend together so well…. I really have a lot of that stuff planned out before I even bring it to the band.

What do you remember about writing the song many would call your biggest hit, Chop Suey! I had this little bed in the back and was jamming on a guitar as we were driving down the road while on tour. I remember there was a different set of lyrics that we changed… it was the exact same phrasing but different words during the verses.

So do you have an idea as to what kind of rig was used for the actual recording? I have no clue. Cancel reply. Your email address will not be published. The Oak Leaf. RSS Feed. Submit Search. Search this site Submit Search.
