There are miles of public water to fish in and around the hamlet of Deckers. Tips and Other Information: Fall is here and we are seeing some nicely colored browns along the South Platte. Anglers should prepare themselves for reliable hatches of midges and blue wing olives during the mornings and cloud cover days. The best fishing has been in the morning until around noon or so. Fishing an egg pattern in tandem with a midge or bwo emerger has been the ticket lately!
Browns have begun to spawn so please keep a close watch out for redds and make sure to not walk on them or fish to spawning trout!. Just below Cheesman Canyon is the world-class Deckers area with outstanding opportunity to catch memorable fish.
Located about an hour outside Denver , this area of the South Platte River defines the legendary fly fishing that Colorado is known for across the world. Following the river north past Scraggy View Picnic Ground allows bait and further north. Cheesman Lake is a fifteen minute drive from town. Take Co Rd from town 2. Make a left and go 3 miles to lake. Fishing in the South Platte River by town.
